Are you protecting your plant with pre-treatment coagulation?
Source water properties—and therefore its chemical demand—are constantly in flux due to storm events, diurnal cycles and other environmental pressures. It’s extremely difficult to predict how much aluminum- or iron-based coagulant will be necessary throughout the day to remove natural organic materials (NOM) from your intake. The amount of coagulant you need depends on particle charge, pH, temperature, alkalinity, hardness, turbidity, organic content, and mixing speed, factors that are always in flux.
Hach’s RTC-COAG Software continuously monitors the variables that affect source water pre-treatment, adjusting the chemical feed in the coagulation/flocculation/sedimentation process. Using machine learning, input of raw water parameters and historical data, RTC-COAG determines the right coagulant dosing strategy to remove solids and natural organic matter in a way that mimics your current operation. Because of the complexity of the coagulation process, the machine learning model considers several raw water parameters, and the software is designed to continually retrain the model for optimal performance as the system receives new data. Its feedback trim modifies the specific dosing ratio for coagulant based on available instrumentation and data, such as streaming current, prefilter turbidity and organics.
Claros Process Management solutions for source water pre-treatment like RTC-COAG are designed to make the most of your plant’s real-world conditions by transforming every uncertainty into an opportunity for measurement, responsive action, and savings.
